Current weather conditions in Russia are highly unpredictable, so many gardeners try to stimulate the growth of vegetables to ensure a good harvest.
Accelerating the ripening of tomatoes
- After planting, water the bush with a weak solution of manganese (2-3 days).
- Dilute an iodine solution (3 drops per liter) and spray it on tomato leaves. To create a nutrient-rich root mix, add whey (1:10).
- Make a 2 mm hole near the stem. These tomatoes will ripen much faster, but won't store for long.
- If you place a banana peel next to a ripening tomato, for example, by tying them together on the bush in a bag and removing the bag after a few days, the tomato will ripen much faster.
- To speed up the ripening of fruits in a greenhouse, you can close it for a day in the evening, after which you should thoroughly ventilate the greenhouse to eliminate condensation.
- You can lightly cut the lower roots of the bush. This will direct the bulk of the nutrients to the fruits rather than the roots.
- Remove any existing buds from branches with fruits, as they are useless for the harvest but draw away a lot of useful elements.
- To speed up ripening, pinch the top of the nightshade bush at the level of the sixth cluster.
- Spray the brushes with ovaries with superphosphate infused for 24 hours (2.5 tablespoons per 1 liter of hot water).
- Use supports to prevent the fruits from touching the ground.
- During cold night temperatures, cover tomatoes with plastic.
- At low temperatures (less than 10 degrees Celsius), remove the fruits together with the stalks for home ripening.
- If a bush is infected with late blight, uproot it and hang it in a location away from other plants. Without the need to nourish the roots, nutrients will be directed to the fruit.
- To reduce the flow of nutrients to the roots and direct them to the fruits, pull the stem at the roots.
- Place a bag with a slit at the base over unripe tomato clusters to increase the temperature around the fruit.
- Loosen the soil around the roots regularly.
- If necessary, remove the tomatoes from the bush and place them in a warm place where they will ripen.
Accelerating the ripening of potatoes
Two weeks before harvest, mix 2 kg of superphosphate with 10 liters of water. Let this solution sit for 2-3 days, and then spray the plants with the settled substrate.
Accelerating the ripening of pumpkins and melons
Ensure that the number of leaves per fruit does not exceed six. Trim any leaves that block sunlight.
Accelerating the ripening of cucumbers
The vines should be removed from their supports, stripped of leaves, laid on the ground, and lightly covered with soil. This will stimulate the growth of root shoots, which will deliver additional beneficial micronutrients to the fruit.
Accelerating the ripening of carrots
In wet, rainy weather, the tops should be cut off.
Accelerating the ripening of cabbage
The horizontal leaves must be collected into a bunch and secured, and the head of cabbage itself must be treated with a suitable growth stimulant.
