6 ideas for using old buckets at your dacha

There's probably not a single gardener who doesn't have an old iron bucket lying around. It's no longer usable, but you can't bring yourself to throw it away. We suggest collecting all those buckets and turning them into various useful gadgets.

Flower pots

Every gardener has flower beds, and an old bucket makes the perfect pot. Simply sand the surface and paint it your favorite color. Your imagination is limitless here – you can decorate the buckets with designs, tie them with decorative mesh, attach thin twigs around the perimeter, and so many other options.

Harvest basket

If your bucket has no bottom, don't throw it away. Giving it a second life is very easy. All you need is some thick wire and wire cutters. Simply weave a new bottom from the wire, securing it with pre-drilled holes. This bucket can be used to store not only harvested crops but also cut grass or leaves.

Stool or table base

A still-sturdy, but somewhat outdated, bucket can be used as a stool. Simply turn it over and place a decorative pillow on top for comfort. Add a small sheet of plastic or thick plywood to create a compact portable table.

Berry basket

Large berry baskets are certainly convenient. However, the berries tend to get bruised quickly. If you have an old bucket, you can, with a little time, make a multi-tiered basket that makes it easier to transport the berries without damaging their appearance.

To do this, make several pallets; you can weave them out of wire or come up with any other solution. It's best to line the bottom with paper. And then it's simple. Each layer is lowered onto the previous one. And the whole thing is secured with wire hooks of the appropriate length, attached to the edges of the bucket.

Hose holder shelf

A bucket nailed to the wall will help you store your hose without the risk of breaking or kinking. Attach the bottom to the wall with screws or long nails, and the bucket becomes a convenient shelf (one) and a hose holder (two). The key is to securely fasten the structure.

Convenient storage of small items

You can creatively decorate an old bucket, label it, or glue letters cut out from magazines and newspapers onto it, and you'll have handy containers for storing various gardening essentials—tools, fertilizers, and many other useful things—which will now be collected in one place.
