How I planted dahlias in the spring

It's still too early to plant dahlias, and I did it on May 1st. The thing is, here in the Tver region, we might get frosts later. But I'll still plant them, covering them with lutrasil afterward. Incidentally, the best time this year to plant dahlias is around the twenties of May (the most favorable day is May 23rd).

Three dahlias

  • Before planting, I soaked the dahlias in a solution of water and vermicompost.

Soaking dahlias

  • I dug holes (about 20-30 cm deep) and watered them. I placed compost mixed with ash at the bottom and covered it with soil.

A dug hole

  • I placed the dahlias on top, spreading out their tubers. There should be no gaps under the root collar, and there should be about 2 cm of soil above it. With this in mind, I covered the dahlias with soil.

Planted dahlia

That same day I planted lilies and replanted phlox and daylilies, I will write about this in my next publication.
