Planting peonies in spring is not recommended. But since I didn't have time in the fall, I decided to plant them in the spring anyway.
I bought a herbaceous peony. It's easier to grow.
The hole should have been dug in advance, of course, but I couldn't do that because I hadn't planned the planting. I just happened to like the flower when I went to the store to buy it.
- I dug a hole 60 cm by 60 cm.
- I put drainage (small stones) at the bottom.
- Then, adding some soil, I added about a bucket of humus, a glass of superphosphate and 2 glasses of ash.
- Then I covered everything with soil, making a small mound.
- I placed a peony on this mound, spreading out the roots.
- I pre-soaked it in a solution of water and vermicompost.
- Then I dipped it into a mixture of fertile soil of the consistency of sour cream with the addition of the same vermicompost.
- Holding it in place, I covered it with the remaining soil. Then I watered it thoroughly.
When planting peonies in the spring, they recommend watering them every day to help them establish roots before the heat sets in. I'll try to do that. I'll also plant dahlias later. I'll write about how I did it.
