About winter garlic: how I planted and fertilized it today

Last fall, around October 10th, I planted winter garlic. I planted it fairly deep, about three cloves deep, leaving about 15 cm between each clove. I prepared the bed before planting by adding compost and ash.

I planted the cloves dry in the soil, watering the furrows with a solution of potassium permanganate. I covered the plantings with soil and mulched them. As the weather approached colder in November, I covered them with spruce branches.

In early spring, at the end of March, I removed the insulation.

This is what the garlic looks like now:

Today, April 30th, I fertilized the crops. I used simple vermicompost for vegetable crops.

I planted radishes between the rows of garlic, right in the furrows where I'd applied fertilizer. They'll all be eaten before the garlic is harvested.
