Tomato variety Raspberry Farmer

Features of growing the tomato variety Raspberry Farmer F1

The hybrid is grown from seedlings. The exact planting time depends on the region.

Sowing seeds and growing seedlings

Seeds for seedlings can be sown from the end of February. The soil mixture can be purchased at a specialty store or made at home.

Step-by-step sowing:

  1. Dig small holes or furrows (about 1.5 cm deep).
  2. Place the seeds in them and cover with a thin layer of soil.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap or glass. Place in a bright place with a temperature of +24…+27°C.
  4. Remove the cover after the seedlings appear.

When growing seedlings, you must follow these rules:

  • Provide lighting for 15-16 hours. Since daylight hours are still too short, phytolamps need to be installed.
  • Apply nitrogen-containing complex fertilizers.
  • Water daily with warm water.
  • At the stage of two true leaves, transplant into separate containers.

Planting in the ground

When the risk of night frosts has passed (in central Russia, in late May or early June), transplant the seedlings into the garden. This occurs approximately 50-65 days after germination. You can plant 5-6 bushes per square meter of garden space. Don't worry about overcrowding, as the plants will receive adequate ventilation.

Care

Caring for a hybrid includes:

  • Shaping. To achieve high yields, it is recommended to tie 4-5 stems together.
  • Watering. This procedure is necessary 2-4 times a week. The water should be settled and warm.
  • Applying nutrient mixtures. Root and/or foliar application can be used. Nitrogen-containing fertilizers should be applied before flowering, followed by phosphorus-potassium mixtures.
  • Pest control. Whiteflies, aphids, cutworms, and Colorado potato beetles pose a threat.
  • Pruning. When the lower fruits have ripened, you can remove the leaves closest to the ground. They no longer provide nutrition to the bush and only impede air circulation.
  • Tying to supports is mandatory.

Top dressing

Care is fairly simple. The main thing is to shape the bushes and water and feed them regularly.

Resistance of the tomato hybrid Malinovy Zemledelts F1 and pest and disease control

Resistance to verticillium wilt and fusarium is a genetic trait. Resistance to late blight is due to the hybrid's ability to mature before its peak.

Chemicals should not be used to control other diseases and pests, as this variety ripens early. Folk remedies or biological insecticides are recommended for control.

Harvesting, use and storage of the tomato variety Raspberry Farmer F1

The harvest can begin as early as midsummer. It is typically consumed fresh. However, if storage is necessary, it is recommended to store it in a refrigerator or cool cellar.

Although this variety is considered for salad consumption, it is also quite good for canning.

Please note! How can you easily convert centners/ha to kg/sq.m? Simply divide by 100! For example, the Abakansky Pink tomato yields 400 centners of marketable fruit per hectare. This equals 4 kg per square meter. It's that simple! Also, keep in mind that typically no more than 3-4 plants are planted per square meter. This way, you can calculate the yield per bush. In the case of the Abakansky Pink, it's about 1 kg.

Hello again everyone!!

I also didn't ignore the seeds from the Partner agricultural company, which has been extremely popular in recent years, and purchased several varieties for the 2019 season.

I bought the seeds at the Partner brand store in Moscow.

My personal opinion of the agricultural company is ambivalent, primarily due to its pricing policy, but I must admit that some varieties are truly worthwhile.

For example, the Raspberry Empire variety has proven itself to be excellent for the second year.

I actually bought the "Raspberry Farmer" seeds by accident; a woman in line recommended them. I didn't even notice that they were, firstly, cherry tomatoes, and secondly, for open ground.

Raspberry tomato seeds

Description of tomato

I planted them in closed soil - in my greenhouse, so I can’t say how they would behave in open soil.

March 27th – they sprouted together. It's worth noting that Partner usually has 10 seeds per packet, but this one turned out to be a ton! I even have some left over for 2020.

Shoots

April 6th - this is what the seedlings looked like, I wouldn't say they were weak, just ordinary.

Grown seedlings

I planted it in the ground (in a greenhouse) on May 9th.

On June 3rd, the bushes were already delighting me, strong and, as it seemed in June, compact...

Planting seedlings in the ground

Support for seedlings

June 25th – By the end of the month, the bushes no longer seemed compact. I read the description and was horrified; it turns out this variety barely needs side shoots and forms five!! stems.

I have 11 of this variety planted in a row. Even after trimming the leaves, the planting is still too dense. I should have planted them with more space between them.

The first tomatoes

Green tomatoes

July 27th – I picked the first tomatoes.

the first red tomatoes

August 3 - they turn red quickly.

Bunches of tomatoes
Today I picked about 2 kilograms of red tomatoes from these bushes.

Look at the photo below, I deliberately placed tomatoes of a different variety - standard size - next to the "Raspberry Farmers".

Raspberry Farmer - Smaller but larger than standard cherry tomatoes.

Comparison of tomatoes
Here is a photo comparing it to regular cherry tomatoes.

Comparison with other cherry tomatoes
To sum it up:

Pros: The bushes are low, 70-80 cm even in greenhouses, there are many tomatoes per bush, unlike other Partner varieties, there are many in the seed packet and they are cheaper.

That's all the positives for me.

Cons: For me, the planting is too dense, the fruits aren't exactly sweet, and they're quite tart. My family rejected this variety—they're not tasty!

I don't even know whether to recommend it or not. I'll plant it again myself, only because I have some seeds left. In the future, I'll give it up in favor of other seeds.

Still, you need to look for varieties that are 100% suitable in all respects. That's why I only give it 4 points.

In general, I love the garden, I love growing everything that can and cannot be grown.
There are a lot of seed producers now, but I, accustomed to "Sedek", have never really considered new products.

I came across "Partner" by chance: I saw an advert on TV and liked the presenter – his confidence, his assurance.

These seeds are hard to find in regular stores—I think that's a downside. You either have to order them online and pay for shipping. Or search, search, and search some more.

I ordered through “intermediaries”, from where a number of other vegetables were purchased.
The second drawback: I was drawn to the word "pink," making it the main one. However, in reality, raspberry isn't the only color available. Regular red ones are. There are much richer, more delicious raspberry-hued tomatoes (not that I need pink ones, I just prefer the taste).

Third: don't pick these tomatoes to let them "ripen" on the windowsill. They ripen extremely slowly, and most of them lose their appearance and become flabby.

Next year, I definitely won't be picking this variety, as I did this year—I planted everything in the greenhouse hoping for good results. But the opposite happened—my tried-and-true ones were left outside, resulting in lower productivity. And these didn't perform as well in the greenhouse either.
